Those shoes...

Humans are never satisfied with what were given by the Almighty. As I walked down the city today clad in my tee, jeans and beanie, I happened to pass by many people. It is not just an ordinary day and definitely not just any other ordinary people. I am referring to those who are limping their way across the road. Today is my 'people watching' day. As I sat at the bus stop at Bugis waiting for the bus to Chinatown, I noticed a lot of limps. I thought nothing of it. When I was at Chinatown, there are more and more of the same kind who crossed my path. Sometimes I wonder how it feels like having this disability. Were their legs hurting when they try to walk a little faster? Will they feel vulnerable because those normal beings gave them unwanted stares? Very likely. I made my way to Orchard from Chinatown. As I was in the train, there was an old man laming his way into the train. There weren't any vacant seats so I gave up mine. Then I tend to notice his shoes. His feet were barely on the shoes. That is how crippled he is. Even a perfectly made pair of shoes seemed to be far from perfect for him. The shoes were just there to act as a base for his feet, to protect them from dirt and abrasion. This has made me thankful for God's gift before he takes it away from me. When it's gone, it's no use crying because the
mist have faded into the surrounding air.
