Being lazy..

When I was a kid at the age of 12, I was just in Primary 6, I always asked myself how come some of my peers can do so well in Mathematics and Science. I never scored Band 1 or A for these 2 subjects. It's always Band 3 or 4 which is a FAILED! Admittedly, I was damn playful back in Primary School. When it comes to exams, I did study like crazy but still, I got a 'just passed' grade. I questioned myself how the other kids in class could score like 55/60 for Science! Even though I wasn't a Mathematician, I was perpetually good in my Art!! Haha! A subject that many doesn't consider an achievement even if one scored an A* for it! It seems like it's every parents' wish to see their children scoring in Maths(especially)! I do see the importance of other subjects too including Music. I always got the impression that the smart ones are the Science and Maths freaks.

Why I bring up this topic is because I began to realise that most smart asses don't do well for Arts. Majority Maths genius couldn't even draw an elephant not even a cat. My point is if you're good in the Arts or Humanities, you might not have the natural ability to do Maths without guidance. And vice-versa for Mathematicians and Scientists. As for me, when I was in high school, my Maths has been improving and I really hit the boiling point only when I reach secondary 4. That was the first time in many years that I scored A1 for Maths. It is solely because I was given a private tutor for Maths! I just didn't like Maths even though I did show interest in it! Looking at Algebra is like reading a non-understandable book! But well, I'm blessed that I'm better in language and humanities rather not being good at anything right..?

Now with the presence of NUS High School of Maths and Science(not sure what they really call it), Singapore Sports School, the future Singapore Arts School etc, I believe it is a good way of dividing the talentsof the young Singaporeans which we're gonna look up to. The existence of these schools actually help in building up the confidence from talented youngsters and nurture them to further develop their talents be it in Science, Arts or Sports. It is also to make them have a sense of belonging knowing that the people around them have are as gifted as they are. But one disadvantage for the students in these specialised independent schools is that the competition level is very high and intense. The people around them are working on towards the same goals. Well, I guess if they're willing to be there, I'm sure they'll keep working their ass to stand above the rest.. :D
