I was having so much fun yesterday. Had mentoring session at Whitley Secondary. Instead of playing games with the mentees, I asked Era if she could teach me driving as she drives a manual car. She was bored so she took the offer. Sitting at the driver's seat is what I always wanted to do. But what's the use if I just sit on it and pretend that I'm driving when actually I'm not. We went to her car at the parade square where she parked it. It was empty. Not too many cars and not too many people and that area is the best to learn how to drive because of it's big empty space. So Era patiently taught me the rules of driving. First try, when I released the handbrake, I went out of control and luckily I didn't bang onto this red car. I forgot about the steering wheel. I stepped on the brake so hard that everything on the backseat fall off. Era who was on the passenger seat got a fright! She panicked! So was I! So she reversed her car and parked it far away from other vehicles. I actually give up as I was trembling. But she told me to be confident and taught me step by step. She really gave me the confident! So second try and third try was the same. When I released the handbrake, the car didn't move but jerked because I released the clutch too fast. Then the fourth time after many many times of Era's good explaination, I got it at last. The car is moving smoothly. I even managed to change from gear 1 to gear 2. And the car's engine didn't die on me this time round. I managed to halt the car smoothly. Then I try reversing and parking. I managed to do that too. My line in was very accurate. I was pleased with myself! And after about half an hour of driving lesson, we have to stop as we have to go and join in the captain's ball game with our mentees. It was the first time I've driven a manual car. Now I really can't wait to have my driving licence. Last night I even memorised the steps that Era taught me. I don't want to forget about it so quickly. I can't wait for another mentoring session as Era will teach me more on driving. But of course, I won't be driving without a licence on the roads! That will be a stupid thing to do. Thank You so much Era! You're really 1 great teacher! Luckily there ain't any accident if not Era will be mad at me! Her car is no ordinary car. It's a brand new Hyundai Matrix!!
